Centos Failed login

Hi all,
I have downloaded Centos-5.0-i386-server to test it, but i am ashamed to say i couldn´t login in..
i tried login: root password: centos; and login: centos pasword:centos but it didn't work...
when i started it for the first time i skipped to change authentication...
Can anyone tell me what to do to correctly install it ?
i am a student so i don´t have almost any experience with that program/ OS.

I'm not entirely sure what you did from your description.
You mention installing it, so i'm guessing your not using one of smyl's prebuilt images.

when grub pops up (the boot loader)
you could try adding single to the boot flags, and then changing the password
